Records will fall today across the upper midwest as temps hit the 90's in some areas. We could see 80 here in the U.P., where there's still plenty of snow in the shadows. When this photo was taken, playful Shirley Krogel still had some snow on her front porch, but the crocuses say it's time for winter to be gone.
We welcome new Pasty Cam contributor Patrick Krogel, and look forward to more of Pat's unique perspective of life in the U.P.

What a pretty little face to wake up to this morning. It's quite a picture....short sleeves, snow, and a crocus. Typical, unpredictable, UP weather. Actually, similar to the Pacific Northwest, if you don't like the weather right now, wait a minute, it will change. One thing for sure, while you are getting snow, we are getting rain, that's a given. Thank you, Shirley, for brightening a dreary, rainy day.

Hey Charlie, it's looking great up there! I can hardly wait to get back "home" to Copper Harbor for the summer to help my mom with running Bergh's Resort. I hope I will get there before the black flies do so I can do some yard work without a bug net on. Only three and 1/2 weeks! Thanks, Charlie, for the encouraging weather forecast! Maybe I can just get right to cleaning those cabins instead of shoveling snow first! Say "Hello" to your wife for me. I'll miss not working with her this year at Gitche, but mom's reservation calendar is getting pretty full, so it looks like she will keep me busy!

Patron's rain was snow in East Idaho and all our public schools have a Tuesday snow vacation day. Even the university cancelled morning classes. More of Patron's rain is expected to hit us hard this evening. It's the heavy wet snow we dearly need for our water storage. But, no school when all the ski areas are closed for the season?? Bring on the daffys and crocuses.

Liz, we did get a lot of snow in the mountains, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens, but here on the Valley floor we get rain. A lot of snow fell at Mt. Hood. Skiers are loving it!!

That is a pretty picture! Reminds me of my granddaughter Holly from a few years ago. My crocuses are also up, one white and one blue or purple. Temp here in Cornell was 82 at one this pm. Very warm and windy. Looking at a sliver of a moon tonight. Mercury, Mars, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter all in a row for now. What a show!

Looks like Nancy Nelson's April 8 "Geology of a Snowbank" may not last until May, let alone June! Had the AC on here in my office today. Unbelievable for mid-April. 'Course, then again, it might snow another 12 inches before May in the UP, right?
