For several months now we have been bringing you "Shoebox Memories" each Sunday, although it was pre-empted last week because of our month end memorial.
I love these old pictures. Like stepping into a time machine, it's a glimpse of life in the U.P. in the past. Today's shot was given to me by our neighbors in Eagle River, Ernie and Edith Niederer. Edith's father is in the front row, second from the left. A handsome lad.
If you're familiar with this church on Pine Street today, you'll notice the steps and entryway have been enclosed. I'd be curious to know the year it was rebuilt.
There are a couple of kids in the crowd that caught my attention. Notice the boy in the second row, just behind Edith's dad, to his left. He appears to be wearing a girls hat (and doesn't seem too happy about it). On the other hand, the Miss Congeniality award goes to the gal on the bottom step, far right. Probably about 94 if she's still with us today... I wonder who she is?
