We come to the end of another month and the beginning of a new season. This glorious Eagle Harbor sunrise is dedicated to the memory of the folks listed below and to those you would like to add yourself to the page:

If you are a long-time Pasty Cammer, you may remember one of the names above. Frank Jakovac appeared on these pages about 4 years ago, through the lens of Dan Urbanski. Dan himself passed on in August, and Frank joined him this month.

As September comes to a close, it is worth noting that the "World Wide Web" marks its 10th anniversary this month. While it is true that the Internet existed before 1994, in September of that year, the final RFC's and governmental agreements were secured to formally launch the WWW. Within a few months, Still Waters published its first "Snow Thermometer" page, and the rest is history. While there is a lot of technical effort to keep a site like Pasty Central 'on the air', it is the people who have journeyed through these messages and archives which really matter. On the final day of each month we pay tribute to those friends who have moved on to that higher journey, which we will all take when it's our time.

I would like to add my Gramps, Arvo S. Kamppinen. He passed away on September 22, 1999. We think about him daily and miss him very much. We especially miss his sense of humor. Very funny, witty guy.

I'm remembering all those who lost their lives as a result of all the hurricanes in the last month.

Ronnie Lee left us on September 25,2004 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Ronnie was a great cousin, wonderful Father, Husband and Grandfather.
He will be dearly missed.
I still think of him as the little kid that tagged along with us rather than the successful
person that he evolved into.

As a side note to the message from wms from Clinton Township, I heard on the radio this morning that there will be an exhibit today on the Capitol lawn in Lansing in remembrance of the service people who have lost their lives in the Gulf War. 1,000 boots to represent the 1,000 plus men and women, with their names inside. I work a block away, so hope to see it at lunchtime.

Memory of Joe the Pasty guy. Who passed last week.

I would like to remember PFC Adam Harris who was shot by a sniper on Sept.22 in Iraq. His mother is our wing commander's secretary and a wonderful human being...aren't they all? It is not a tragedy but a loss in the name of keeping all of us free. We thank them all as we grieve for them also

Joe Finn: Are you referring to Joe Barbera from Ironwood? Wonderful pasties came from his Joe's Pasty Shop. He will be missed by many. Funny how the best pasty shops in Ironwood were run by Italians - the Barbera family and the Rigoni family.

I posted earlier, way up the line here, but I am going to post again, because there is one person I have never listed here, and that's because I have NO idea of his death date. So I will do it today. In memory of my Grandfather, Alex Tiensivu, whom I was named after. Whatever the date was, I love you.

I am closing up camp on this my 49th summer at Agate Harbor. There are 20 people from our "piece of heaven on earth" that I remember. (I also remember when we didn't have electricity and am thankful that I can live 5 months of the year in semi-solitude but with internet and Pasty.net to keep me in touch with family & friends).

I'd like to mention my grandfather, Clemens Weisse, who passed away on September 5th of this year in Gladstone. He will be missed dearly by his wife, his 3 children, his 7 grandchildren, and his 6 great-grandchildren. He was a gentle and mild-mannered human being who loved to garden and fish. He always enjoyed working on the log cabin down the road from Aunt and Uncle's farm in the heart of the UP. My family will always remember him for his kindness, his bountiful raspberry crops, his German phrases (machst gut) and the Grandpa wave.

Joe Finn: I ate many a Red's Pasty as well; used to work at Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield in the 70's before they closed. Always a good break from the day to run over to Red's for a bite. A friend of mine worked at Indianhead and sometimes we met at Red's for lunch. The Evergreen in Wakefield also made dandy pasties.

In memory of my Dad, James Elery Carson, who died six years ago today of lung cancer. It still breaks my heart to think how long and healthy he could have lived except for cigarettes.

WOW...I stumbled across your site and reading everyone has made me feel so good. I moved to TX from FL about 3 years ago upon retiring from teaching. I would like to remember my mom, Edna, who passed in 1998 and my dad just this year. Her unconditional love opens the doors for all of life in such a safe and positive way. And Hope, my dog we lost recently to a rattle snake bite. God bless each and every one of you!

Lawrence and Bess Robinson, who traveled from Clio, MI throughout the Keweenaw every year for their anniversary and a fall color tour.

I never knew Kathie Fryxell, but she was the daughter of my friend Rita from church. She passed away earlier this month from brain cancer. May she rest in peace and may Rita find comfort in her memory.

My Mom Bernadine Spellich passed away on this date in 1978. My Mom married at 17 and took her 3 brothers and a sister to raise as they were all orphaned. She and my Dad(John) raised them and 7 of us. She was the best!! Her life was devoted to her family. Through thick and thin her and Dad had 52 yrs together. I sure miss both of them and all other deceased members of our family.

Kathy Frixell was the daughter of my cousin Howard and his wife Rosemary. Such a loss to her famiy. My sympathy to them.

Lucille Kidd died of a stroke at 88 yesterday 9/28/04. She was having dinner with her family at a restaurant in Birmingham and had just seen the newest two of her eight great grandchildren for the first time. One hour later she was in hospital and gone. She as my Mother in law for 27 years and was a grand lady. We will remember her always.
