OK, Z-Man, you've got me stumped on this one. Somebody give us some help.

Today I would have traded sitting in that little U.P. lighthouse tower, instead of being stuck in traffic around Memphis. Never did make it to Graceland. Sorry I missed the note on yesterday's Cam about the get-together in Nashville. Also, sorry I've not answered some emails I just found. It's back across the mighty Mississip, out near the place where Wal-Mart was born.

Sand Point Light ( Baraga ) ? I came across pasty cam late last fall, and have been enjoying the heck out of it often. Thanks for all the great pics. I started visiting the U.P. in April of 1998 and was instantly hooked on this beautiful place. And the people are the best. I finally moved here at the end of January. Its great to live a dream. Now everytime I leave my house its like being on a mini vacation.

That's Sand Point Lighthouse in Baraga. You can check out all the lighthouses on Superior by clicking this link. http://terrypepper.com/lights/lake_superior.htm

Allow me to echo Dick's recommendation to see Terry Pepper's website. Terry won the Golden Pasty Award in July of 2001, but just recently has updated the Lighthouse pages, a wealth of information about the Great Lakes region.

To Sam Ramsay: Nice to hear from somebody who's done what others, including me, are thinking of doing... Would you mind telling us where you moved from?

By Mary Lou on Thursday, April 24, 2003 - 03:07 pm:

I Love the lighthouses on Lake Superior...but am a bit offended that the beautiful lighthouses guarding the southern shore of our U. P. on Lake Michigan, are not included. We have some beautiful and historic lighthouses here as well.

By Ro on Thursday, April 24, 2003 - 03:31 pm:

Mary Lou ... don't be offended, just look at the rest of the website :-) ... the lighthouses on Lake Michigan are on a different web page. Individual pages for lighthouses on lakes Superior, Michigan, and Huron. : http://terrypepper.com/lights/lake_superior.htm : http://terrypepper.com/lights/lake_michigan2.htm : http://terrypepper.com/lights/lake_huron.htm : see??

Mary lou, I agree with you on the Lake Mich lights....the Seul Choix light is awesome...it's one of my favorites after the Eagle Harbor light. By the way you know my mom Inge (Aittama) Thomas. I sure love EVERYTHING about the Copper Country. I have a cottage in Curtis (only because it's close enuf to go on weekends) but would much rather have been all the way up north. I'm going up this weekend to open it up.....can't wait to get across that bridge...and put my feet back on a piece of Heaven on earth...THE U.P.

I know of a statuesque lighthouse indeed, one seen by few and frequented by fewer.

Ro...Thanks, I did find our beautiful Escanaba Ligthouse....but wonder why there isn't a site featuring the lighthouses that guard our entire beautiful U.P........period.

By Andrew Eldred, NM on Thursday, April 24, 2003 - 09:22 pm:

Eldred in Az. the Eldred's from Clovis New Mexico will be in Eagle Harbor this summer. Could we be related??????

By Deep in Houghton on Thursday, April 24, 2003 - 10:11 pm:

Definitely the Sand Point Lighthouse in Baraga. Lotsa flies up in the light portion of it right now. Had a tour of this lighthouse last fall. Pretty neat.

OK... My Uncle. He just died a couple of years ago. He was the first born, and the last to die. Everyone's gone now, and while it is very upsetting to me, they have left me with a wonderful gift... Knowledge of, time in, and a future in, THE U.P. :)

By Mary Lou on Friday, April 25, 2003 - 07:54 am:

Hi Brian T........Is the Seul Choix Lighthouse the one that is haunted?? Sure, I know your mom...she was in the same class at LLHS as Gary & lots of other friends.......I saw her at the reunion in '99.......wonder if I can crash their next reunion?? We always had a joint reunion till the recent past...it was so much fun.....wonder when the next all school reunion will be held? Say hello to your mom.

One of my favorite spots on the Keweenaw Bay (Baraga-L'Anse). Too bad there isn't a picture facing south towards the head of the bay from the lighthouse.

By Capt. Kraig Houghton, Mi on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 - 10:03 am:

Any one interested in seeing lots of Keweenaw and Isle Royale Lighthouses should look at the Keweenaw Star. This summer we are offering several different lighthouse cruises. It is really neat to see these lights the way they were supposed to be seen from the water.
