Speaking of Calumet, congratulations to the Copper Kings Football team, traveling to Boyne City this weekend to face the Ramblers in the first battle of this year's Playoffs. Dumping catsup on food makes all food taste the same. All you taste is catsup. A good pasty stands alone, needs nothing else. Why would you want to hide the great flavors of a Hut Inn pasty???

A partridge hit our living room window while I was vacuuming just a little while ago, darn near scared the "----" out of me. I would say about a 3 pound bird or so. Guess I'm in store for bad luck????

I also prefer my pasties with nothing on them. Ketchup? Yuck. Destroys the flavor of a good pasty. Ketchup is for burgers and french fries.

Dinner is out of the question for the bird that once was alive, hubby hauled it away with a shovel.

Here's a question for you: I have an old child's sled that I bought a few years ago from an estate sale in Laurium. It has "Marswell's" on it. I hope I got that right. Sounds like it was maybe the name of a hardware in that area years ago. Any info anyone?

Derek the pillow looks like a smaller version of your great costume! That costume is the best! I get a kick out of it everytime I see it.

I had heard that the tin miners would just drop the pasties down the mine so they could use the pasties as wheel chocks under the car's wheels to stop the car from rolling down the hill. :)

I prefer pasties without ketchup also. Why ruin a great pasty? And believe me, my pasties are VERY good!!!! You definitely need rutabaga!

Rutabaga is Yooper "soul food". Oh, and you have to have Michigan grown potatoes in it. Don't forget to make the crust with lard and a splash of vinegar. I feel at home right now, ahhh. :o) The simple life is the best life.

David- so where would I find a Kroger's? Guess I'd have to go to Michigan for that, and then I could find it most anywhere.

I thought Kroger's were in evey state, a national food store chain. We have them here in TN.Vernor's is expensive there however.

Dave, no more Krogers in this part of Tn. They have been gone a long time. I have been wondering about Japei also. He hasn't e-mailed me for quite awhile. I hope he and his family are well.

I think maybe Jarmo Itäneimi (Japei) headed for the tall grass after the web site that hosted one of the videos he posted here was banned from Pastyland.

I hope that didn't scare him off!
