By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 06:53 am: Somehow this photo snapped by Paul Trautman, gives off an essence of comfort, even though it's obviously not comfortably warm with the snow-covered ground. It won't be long before open water like this will be iced over for the winter. You can see the beginnings of thin ice forming and extending out from the shore. It's been snowing every day here in the Keweenaw, so if this keeps up, the snow will be piled high around those picnic tables, too, almost obscuring them from sight. I guess any worries about not having a white Christmas are gone! By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 06:58 am: Where is this shot? It looks so serene! By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 07:14 am: Looks like someone tried to drive to the lake and fish from his car. By Michael Poe (Mpoe) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 07:24 am: I wonder if that is the Gratiot lake boat launch? Great pic, serene, tantalizing. By Smfwixom (Trollperson) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 07:33 am: I've only been to Gratiot Lake boat launch once, but this picture does look like it. By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 08:08 am: That is a beautiful postcard shot! With scenery like that I sure wouldn't mind the cold and snow! Don't think we will have a white Christmas this year. By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 08:56 am: Great photo choice...it is serene. With 15 inches of snow on Friday and frigid temps, I believe N/W IL will have a white Christmas. Yes! By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 08:59 am:
Lovely picture. By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 09:15 am: It is a beautiful sight. Here in the city, I love how a blanket of snow mercifully covers the ugliness of the world for a time. By David C Cloutier (Dccloutier) on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 09:46 am: It reminds me a bit of a Courier & Ives Christmas scene. Very peaceful. Hi Everyone!! This picture makes me want to get out there and try snowshoeing. It is something I've never tried, as I'm not a winter person. I hope to become one soon as I need the exercise to regulate my diabetes. Anyone have some snowshoes laying around unused? By Brion Beauchene (Bbeauchene) on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 02:22 pm: This is definately not Gratiot Lake we have a place close to there and the launch does not have a fence or the nice trees this one does. |
